We’re delighted to reach another significant milestone at Seedrs with over £500M now having been invested into pitches on the platform, with more than 720 deals having been successfully funded since our launch.

This is a great reflection of the vibrant investor community on Seedrs, especially considering nearly £200M has been invested into pitches so far this year. Which represents nearly a 60% increase in investment compared to 2017.

Our diverse investor community

Behind all the investment activity is a highly diverse range of investors using the platform, something that reflects our ethos of democratising early-stage equity investment.

Since our launch, investors from over 80 different countries have invested in pitches, illustrating our investor community’s global reach. Entrepreneurs have also come from an international community, with businesses from 19 different countries using the platform.

This year we further enhanced Seedrs position as the platform of choice for international fundraising, with the announcement of our strategic partnership with Republic, the U.S based equity crowdfunding platform and sister company of AngelList.

Investments into a diverse range of businesses

A broad range of sectors are represented on the platform with hundreds of businesses from 17 different sectors having raised funds on Seedrs, from Finance and Payments to Food and Beverage. And as outlined in our recent Autumn 2018 Portfolio Update, no sector makes up more than 12% of the portfolio which shows true diversity.

Co-investment with Venture Capital funds (VCs) alongside the crowd

Along the journey to reaching £500M invested, we have seen an increasing number of companies at different stages successfully using equity crowdfunding to raise funds alongside Venture Capital funds. This year Airsorted raised £7.3M on Seedrs alongside Atami Capital, Maxfield Capital and Concetric. Grocery delivery company, Home Run raised over £550k on Seedrs alongside JamJar Investments and VentureFriends.

Jeff Lynn, co-founder and Executive Chairman at Seedrs, comments on the milestone: “It’s been quite a journey since we launched, and hitting £500 million invested on the platform is a fantastic achievement. From funding £10,000 campaigns back in 2012 to €12,000,000 campaigns in 2018, we’ve come a long way and we’re still just getting started. With the recently increased funding round limit and our expansion plans across Europe, what the future holds for Seedrs is very exciting indeed.”
